PHƯƠNG PHÁP TẠO RỄ CHO CÂY MAI VÀNG
Nguồn gốc của hoa mai là từ Trung Quốc, chúng xuất hiện trên đất nước này khoảng hơn 3000 năm trước. Theo ghi chép của Phí Cung Ấn đời Minh trong sách “Trân hương bảo ngự,” Đắc Kỷ thích ngắm hoa mai trong giá lạnh và Trụ vương thường đội tuyết cùng ngắm. Nhờ vẻ đẹp của hoa mai, từ thời xa xưa, người Trung Quốc vốn yêu thích hoa mai. Hoa mai cùng với Tùng và Cúc không chỉ được xem là nhóm “Tuế hàn tam hữu” mà còn được trân trọng là quốc hoa của họ.
Hoa mai được đặt với những cái tên nghe khá hoa mỹ và dựa trên đặc trưng của hoa như “Yên chi mai” chỉ loài hoa mai có màu đỏ hồng, “Thủy tiên mai” là loại hoa mai 6 cánh tròn giống như hoa thủy tiên, “Lục ngạc mai” tức loài mai có đài hoa màu xanh đậm,… Theo tư liệu cũ ghi chép lại, hoa mai của Trung Quốc được phân thành 4 loại chính: Bạch mai, Thanh mai, Hồng mai, và Mặc mai.
Hoa mai ban đầu vốn là cây hoang dại. Cây thích nghi tốt với điều kiện khí hậu nhiệt đới, khả năng sinh trưởng và phát triển tốt. Người ta nhận thấy nếu cây bonsai mai vàng được chăm sóc cẩn thận thì hoa nở sẽ rất đẹp và cây có tuổi thọ cao. Chính nhờ đặc điểm rụng lá vào cuối mùa đông, nở hoa khi đầu mùa xuân nên cây mai thường được trồng làm cây cảnh chơi Tết Nguyên Đán ở châu Á nói chung và Việt Nam nói riêng.
Giới Thiệu
Các cây bonsai nói chung và cây mai nói riêng không phải tình cờ mà có được bộ rễ nổi hoàn hảo. Phần lớn nhờ vào bàn tay khéo léo của các nghệ nhân mà chúng mới trở nên hoàn mỹ. Bài viết này sẽ giúp bạn nắm bắt cách tạo rễ nổi cho chậu trồng mai vàng một cách hiệu quả.
Thời Điểm Thực Hiện
Thời gian tốt nhất để thực hiện công việc này là từ gần cuối năm (tháng 11 âm lịch) đến hết mùa xuân năm sau. Lúc này, thời tiết khá dễ chịu, ít mưa và nắng gắt, thuận lợi cho việc tạo rễ. Các tháng khác không phù hợp vì nhiệt độ quá cao hoặc quá thấp có thể gây hại cho cây.
Chuẩn Bị Dụng Cụ
Thân tre non, chẻ thành các cọc dài 10-20 cm, nhọn một đầu.
Các ghim bằng cỡ chân nhang dài 12 cm, nhọn hai đầu và xoắn ở giữa.
Lạt tre dài.
Vỏ trái dừa hoặc bèo (lục bình).
Các Bước Thực Hiện
Chuyển Chậu, Thay Đất Và Sắp Xếp Rễ
Đối với những cây mai đã được 2-3 năm tuổi, công việc chuyển chậu, thay đất và sắp xếp lại bộ rễ là cần thiết. Đất trong chậu không nên quá ướt hoặc quá khô, chỉ cần còn độ ẩm là dễ dàng thực hiện.
Bê cây khéo léo, tránh đứt rễ cái dài. Sau đó, nhẹ nhàng xới bớt đất chỉ còn một ít, tay nâng thân và đỡ lấy rễ, lật ngược cho ngọn quay xuống để các rễ xuôi theo.
Đặt cây vào giữa chậu trên lớp đất trồng, dùng cọc và lạt giữ cây cố định.
Tưới nước vào gốc, đợi một lát cho nước ngấm hết, rồi sắp xếp lại các rễ. Rễ ngắn nên được trải đều tại chỗ, rễ dài bên thừa để qua phía thiếu. Dùng cọc và ghim giữ rễ cố định.
Rải đất bột khô vào và tưới nước đầy chậu lần nữa. Cuối cùng, sử dụng rễ bèo hoặc xơ dừa xé nhỏ phủ mặt chậu để ngăn đất bị trôi khi tưới nước.

Đối Với Cây To Chậu Lớn
Nếu thấy bên nào thiếu rễ, tưới nước nhiều lần hoặc đợi mưa để đất mềm dễ làm.
Moi đất chỗ trống rễ, dùng ngón tay trỏ thăm dò rễ có khả năng rút được thì từ từ kéo lên. Khi rễ trồi hẳn, lấp đất hố vừa moi.
Banh sửa lại rễ và lấp đất. Dùng mảnh vỏ dừa đập dập úp kín rễ để bảo vệ.
Nếu khó kéo rễ sợ đứt, có thể dùng cây phụ có thân tương ứng. Moi đất ở gốc cây chính chỗ thiếu rễ, đặt cây phụ vào, buộc hai thân lại. Sắp xếp rễ cây phụ tương tự.
Sau khoảng 3 tháng, cây phụ phát triển bình thường thì cắt bỏ phần trên, chỉ giữ lại đoạn vừa đủ quấn quanh gốc chính.
Dùng 2 mảnh tre già, đặt trực tiếp lên đầu mối cây vừa cắt và ở vị trí đối diện. Dùng dây kim loại siết chặt để cây chính và cây phụ khít nhau.
Lưu Ý
Khi ép mảnh tre, tránh để dây kim loại chạm vỏ cây. Chêm thêm mảnh tre để tránh gây sẹo xấu.
Không cắt tỉa các tược mọc bậy ở đoạn còn lại của cây phụ, để chúng ép sát mặt chậu. Chỉ khi hai thân cây đã ăn khít, mới gỡ bỏ dụng cụ bó buộc.
Việc tạo rễ cho cây mai vàng đòi hỏi sự kiên nhẫn và tỉ mỉ. Tuy nhiên, với các bước thực hiện cụ thể và chú ý đúng thời điểm, bạn sẽ có thể tạo ra bộ rễ nổi đẹp mắt cho cây cảnh của mình.
