He found a friend and patron in Duryodhana, the eldest of the Kauravas, who made him the king of Anga. Karnan remained loyal to Duryodhana till his death, even though he knew that he was fighting against his own brothers.

Karnan had many remarkable qualities that made him a hero in his own right. He was generous to a fault, giving away anything that anyone asked of him, even his armor and earrings that were his divine gifts from Surya. He was courageous and skilled in warfare, defeating many formidable foes such as Bhima, Arjuna, Abhimanyu, Ghatotkacha, and Shalya. He was humble and respectful, honoring his parents, elders, teachers, and friends. He was also truthful and righteous, keeping his word and following his dharma.

However, Karnan also had some flaws that led to his downfall. He was proud and arrogant, boasting about his achievements and challenging others to duels. He was also vengeful and bitter, holding grudges against those who wronged him and seeking revenge. He was also misguided and stubborn, refusing to listen to the advice of his well-wishers such as Kunti, Krishna, Bhishma, and Kripa. He chose to side with Duryodhana, who was unjust and cruel, instead of joining his brothers who were virtuous and noble.

Karnan's life was full of trials and tribulations, but he faced them with dignity and grace. He died a glorious death on the battlefield, fighting valiantly till his last breath. He was honored by both friends and foes alike for his heroism and generosity. He attained salvation after Krishna revealed his true identity and blessed him. Karnan's story is a testament to the power of human spirit and the complexity of human nature.
